If one day you should make an unexpected turn off OLD WESTMOOR FARM ROAD, onto a meandering tree-lined drive that winds past blossoming bushes of giant blue hydrangeas… and, should you continue past the stone pilasters and up toward to the grand gazebo and the old red barn… chances are your eye will catch a curious cottontail up on its haunches in rapt attention, almost as if to say “Welcome”…. And with that, you might be absolutely certain you have just arrived at Alice’s Wonderland!
WESTMOOR FARM NANTUCKET, a family-owned compound, was originally part of the Vanderbilt Estate on Nantucket Island. The old mansion still sits up on the hill, but it’s the rolling green acreage below– once filled with a summer harvest of fruit and flowers–that still bears the historic name: WESTMOOR FARM.
With its swimming pool set below waterfalls and meandering streams that lead to an always fascinating koi pond, the “Green” is a gathering spot for groups small or large. Whether it’s dinner for two, twenty-two, or two hundred, there is a perfect spot at WESTMOOR to share a picnic on the grounds or host a grand gala in the Green Barn Ballroom.
The Old Red Barn has been enlarged to include welcoming spaces for entertaining. It boasts a fabulous professional kitchen with a gracious dining room that opens to outdoor dining under bright colored umbrellas. Other beautiful shaded patios provide lots of options for dining al fresco…or for simply relaxing in the quiet peace of this tranquil setting.
The Compound has SIX EXPANSIVE BEDROOM SUITES, and with an ADDITIONAL FIVE BEDROOMS, there are lovely ACCOMMODATIONS FOR 22 throughout the guest cottages—WISTERIA, ROSE, and the RED BARN LOFT.
With only the sound of chirping birds in the morning, “sleeping in” is an easy choice, but chances are you’ll want to spend most of you time outside– wandering the quaint garden walkways, crossing the covered bridge, taking tea in the gazebo, and simply enjoying the magical mystery of what makes Nantucket so enchanting to everyone who visits THE WESTMOOR FARM.
